New York, NY - Leading his team to a Pac-12 title and a berth in the national semifinals has Marcus Mariota poised to win the biggest individual honor in college football. Yeezy Baratas Spain . The Oregon Ducks quarterback was one of three players named Monday as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and is seen as the runaway favorite to win the award after a stunning statistical season. Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon and Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper were also named as finalists for the award. The winner will be announced during Saturdays ceremony in New York. Mariota, a redshirt junior, is the most prolific quarterback in Oregon history and has led the Ducks (12-1) to 35 wins in his three seasons as the starter. He has passed for 3,773 yards and 38 touchdowns this season with 669 yards rushing and another 14 scores. He completed 68.3 percent of his 372 passes with just two interceptions on the season and accounted for 346 yards and five touchdowns in a 51-13 win over Arizona in the Pac-12 title game on Friday. Oregon ended the season No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings and will face reigning national champion Florida State and last years Heisman winner, quarterback Jameis Winston, in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1. Coopers Crimson Tide (12-1) -- the No. 1 team in the playoff rankings -- will take on Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl on New Years Day. The winners of those games will play for the national championship on Jan. 12. Gordon rushed for a then-FBS record 408 yards against Nebraska last month and ended the season with an FBS-leading 2,336 yards rushing, the fourth-best total all-time. He scored 26 on 309 carries but had just 76 yards on 26 carries in Saturdays 59-0 loss to Ohio State in the Big Ten title game. The redshirt juniors single-game rushing record set Nov. 15 in a 59-24 win over the Cornhuskers was broken seven days later by Oklahoma freshman Samaje Perine. The previous record was set by NFL great LaDainian Tomlinson for TCU in 1999. Cooper, a junior, had an SEC-record 115 catches for a national-best 1,656 yards and 14 touchdowns in 13 games this season. He had an Iron Bowl-record 224 yards receiving in Alabamas 55-44 win over rival Auburn on Nov. 29 and caught 12 passes in Saturdays win over Missouri in the SEC championship game. Oregon has never had a Heisman Trophy winner. Mariota is the third Ducks player to be named a finalist for the award following quarterback Joey Harrington, who finished fourth in the voting in 2001, and running back LaMichael James, who placed third behind Cam Newton and Andrew Luck in 2010. He has thrown for 10,115 yards and 101 touchdowns with just 12 interceptions in his college career with another 2,136 yards and 28 touchdowns rushing. A quarterback has won 12 of the past 14 Heisman Trophies, with the other two going to running backs Reggie Bush for the 2005 season and Mark Ingram in 2009. Bush gave back his award after it was vacated due to sanctions against USC. Gordon would be Wisconsins third winner after running backs Alan Ameche in 1954 and Ron Dayne in 1999. Running back Montee Ball, who finished fourth in the 2011 voting, was Wisconsins only other finalist. Cooper would be Alabamas second Heisman winner after Ingram and is the fourth Crimson Tide player to be invited to the award presentation since that year. No wide receiver has won the award since Michigans Desmond Howard in 1991. Zapatillas Baratas España . His actions are much louder on the Fenway Park mound. The Australian was called up from triple-A Buffalo, enjoyed his six-month anniversary with wife Kristi, and gave his mother Debbie a long-distance present as she celebrated her birthday Down Under. Hendriks capped a day to remember with an impressive 5 2/3-inning performance in Torontos 3-2 win over Oakland at Rogers Centre. The 25-year-old right-hander allowed three hits and one earned run for his first major-league victory since last August. "Its kind of a big deal today for me," he said. Steve Tolleson staked Hendriks to an early lead with a two-run shot -- his first homer of the season -- in the second inning and the Blue Jays scratched out another run in the third. Hendriks allowed a solo homer to Brandon Moss in the fourth inning. He escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fifth and left to a standing ovation in the sixth inning. "That was incredible," he said. "I got tingles all over my body for that. This is such a good crowd up here. Its fantastic. They know their baseball up here." Hendriks, who spent parts of the last three seasons with the Twins, earned the callup with a sparkling 5-0 record and 1.48 earned-run average this season with the Bisons. He hopes to take full advantage of this second chance in the big leagues. "Its a huge thing for me," he said. "I was given opportunities in Minnesota and I didnt capitalize on them. Now Ive got a different mindset coming into the season of just getting ready, getting aggressive and getting after guys early. "I think its paid dividends so far and hopefully I can continue this trend and stay up here all year." Toronto manager John Gibbons was impressed. "I would definitely say hes earned another start," he said. The Blue Jays have won four straight games, nine of their last 11 and improved to 11-11 at home this season. Toronto (27-22) is five games over .500 for the first time in over two years. The Blue Jays also lead the American League East division. The last time they were alone in first place this deep into the season was way back on July 6, 2000. It was Tollesons first home run in a Toronto uniform and first in the majors since he went deep on June 10, 2012 with Philadelphia. Zapatillas Jordan Falsas. "We have a tremendous lineup, I mean Melky (Cabrera), Jose (Bautista), Eddie (Encarnacion), all of these guys have been swinging the bat really well," said Tolleson, who batted seventh. "When the bottom of the order can get on base and they can drive us in or produce some runs ourselves that just helps everybody." Scott Kazmir (5-2) shouldered the loss for American League West-leading Oakland (30-18). He allowed five hits and three earned runs over seven innings. However, it was the southpaws throwing error in the third inning that allowed the eventual winning run to score. With Kevin Pillar aboard after a double, Kazmir threw to second base on a pickoff attempt but no one was covering the bag. Pillar ran to third on the play and scored when Jose Reyes hit a slow grounder to the right side of the infield. "That turned out to be costly," Kazmir said. "I should have held on to it. It ended up being the difference-maker in the game." Jed Lowrie was playing shortstop and Nick Punto was at second base. "(Kazmir) thought that I was going to go to the base and I was just there to hold (Pillar) on just a little bit longer because he was extending his lead," Lowrie said. "I wanted to stay there. He looked back and thought I was going to break and I didnt have any plans to." The Athletics made it a one-run game in the eighth inning and threatened in the ninth. Coco Crisp hit a two-out double off Casey Janssen and stole third but the Toronto closer got Lowrie to ground out for his sixth save in six opportunities. Notes: Toronto knuckleballer R.A.
